OZSTREAM WEBSITE RULES / USER CODE OF CONDUCT

Whilst you’re not required to use any particular language whilst using this service, an appreciation for
the Australian vernacular will certainly help. The following types of content will be removed, and will result in account suspension and quite
possibly see your account access revoked without compensation:

  • Accounts registered to carry out malicious intent.
  • Unauthorised distribution of any personal information or data (aka DOXing).
  • Impersonation: You may not impersonate individuals, groups, or organisations in a manner that is intended to or does mislead, confuse, or deceive others.
  • Parody: By nature of our industry, we welcome mimicry and lampooning. I’m afraid to tell you that parody accounts are not allowed on OzStream.
  • Nude or pornographic images, or any other content that would be considered “18+” or “adult”by a reasonable person under Australian law.
  • Any conduct intended to incite other users to perform any of the aforementioned actions, is also disallowed.
  • Racism or advocacy of racism.
  • Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia.
  • Queerphobia, or advocacy of queerphobia (comparisons to paedophilia, animals, dehumanising language)
  • Sexism or advocacy of sexism.
  • Ageism or advocacy of ageism.
  • Ableism, fatphobia or discrimination against disabled people.
  • Actually, any ‘ism that is generally frowned upon by society is not okay.
  • Discrimination or advocating against genders and sexual minorities.
  • Xenophobia and/or violent nationalism.
  • Gore and extremely graphic violence, including artistic depictions or in the written form.
  • Promotion or encouragement of suicide or self-harm.
  • Stalking; including advocating any physical, sexual, or emotional harm against individuals or groups.
  • Harassment of any kind, including consistent baiting, bad faith gaslighting, unwanted sexual advances, etc. especially towards marginalised groups.
  • Promotion of scams, including web3 / crypto and other ponzi schemes.
  • In summary, ask yourself whether it’d pass the ‘The Mum Test?’. Even if you find yourself having to ask whether it might, then it probably won’t, so don’t!

The following types of content are explicitly disallowed and will result in your account being deleted without compensation:

  • Conduct promoting the ideology of National Socialism.
  • Holocaust denial or Nazi symbolism, or similar content declared illegal.
  • Violence: You may not make specific threats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm, death, or disease of an individual or group of people. This includes, but is not limited to, threatening or promoting terrorism. You also may not affiliate with organisations that – whether by their own statements or activity both on and off the platform – use or promote violence against civilians to further their causes.
  • Child exploitation: You may not post (or promote) suggestive depictions of children in any way (regardless of context). Example: No bath photos.

We will not act on complaints regarding:

  • Criticising racist, sexist, or otherwise oppressive behaviour or assumptions.
  • Good faith and non-malicious conduct whose object is to ameliorate (improve) the conditions of disadvantaged or marginalised individuals or groups.
  • Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as “leave me alone,” “go away,” or “I’m not discussing this with you”.
  • Swearing or profanity.

Reporting Inappropriate Behaviour

All inappropriate behaviour should be reported immediately by email to: help@ozstream.org

OZSTREAM DISCLOSURE POLICY

Ozstream respects the trust you’ve placed in the content we produce and the products and services we provide. For this reason, you also deserve to know how we operate and receive compensation for our work.

Maintaining a website that curates content that is factual, objective, independent, honest and impartial, but not sponsored, at the same time as trying to run a profitable business is a genuine balancing act.

We’re no special snowflake, the operation of our website incurs costs, just like any other website and registered business. Please accept our apologies for the website will contain advertising (well, it will eventually). That said, we promise that it will only be for the promotion of events and entertainment, and for those who support Australia’s creative and performing arts industry and cultural institutions.

Where we have accepted forms of cash advertising, sponsorship, paid insertions and other forms of compensation in order to support our operations, we shall be upfront with you, and these will be readily disclosed as sponsored content right at the beginning. How we came up with any facts and figures should also be revealed, along with our methods and madness. Oh, and on this matter, whilst we use Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to help take a blank page and fill it with content, any content produced by A.I. it is always checked and curated to make it specific to our needs and styles, and is always reviewed to ensure accuracy. Why? Because we can’t trust those robots that are coming for all our jobs just yet!

Where we’ve used even the smallest portion of someone else’s work, permission will be sought and credits will be made. Our website does not contain content which might present us with a conflict of interest. Like any sensible business, we’d really like to avoid libel and legal fees wherever we can, for this reason we first seek to collaborate on our content before we go and publish it online. Rest assured that what you read will always be our honest opinion, finding, beliefs and/or recommendations, based on well researched figures and factotums.

With a business model such as ours, any views and opinions expressed will always be our own. At the end of the day, if we don’t believe in it, we can’t recommend it. To do otherwise compromises our own products, services, brand, customer base and their goodwill, and prevents us from being an independent, unbiased and objective voice that advocates for Australia’s Creative and Performing Arts Industry.

Any claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service can be verified with UpOverDownUnder / The Ozstream Organisation.

If you have any questions, require any content to be taken down, or determine that we’ve breached our own disclosure policy, we welcome your feedback and encourage you to email: disclosure@ozstream.org
