How much should I be charging / paying as a performer / venue?
When we were designing GigBridge – this was one of the most vexed subjects we had to work through.
As an advocate ensuring every Australian artist is supported by a living wage, we fully supports all performers receiving fair compensation for their time and talent.
Given the vast number of variables in play, such as whether a performer is new, emerging, or a professional performer, along with how much time the entertainment opportunity is requested to perform and therefore considering what breaks might be provided.
When you combine this with any number of other factors, such as travel, or whether accommodation is required, or what other allowances are to be taken into consideration, it’s impossible, unreasonable, and unfair to suggest what is considered a reasonable charge / payment.
For these reasons, Ozstream recommends that you always have written agreements in place, ahead of time, which sets out all of these matters, including how and when payment for services will occur.
GigBridge helps you with finding new opportunities and the booking process. However, this does not mean we’re responsible for the affairs within your own agreements.
It’s up to you to value and cost your time, talent, or business operations, as appropriate to the needs of your own personal situation and/or business requirements.
